SOLUNE I - Kattleya x Solenn | ceramic soy candle

A collaboration series between Kattleya Silang, ceramicist from Sydney and Solenn, candle maker from Melbourne. Solune I is a ceramic soy candle that embodies the vision of the ‘sun’. The concept is based on creating the visual of ‘sunlight filtering through clouds’. The white porcelain vessel is carefully etched with abstract cloud tops, which gives the imagery of ‘rays of light’ filtering through as you light the candle. 

The essence of this project hopes to emulate that feeling of calmness and mindfulness of lighting a candle and the golden hue of a sunrise. We wanted the candle to be an experience and a lasting piece that would be perfect for any space and home with its minimalistic design. The beauty of handmade pieces means that they vary slightly and each are one-of-a-kind.

Vessel: Carefully hand-thrown in small batches, individually etched and sanded to give you that earthy, textural feel on the outside and glazed on the inside to restore balance and function for you to use as a cup, a tumbler, a tealight holder etc. after the candle’s burned through.
